The Solicitor General for England and Wales, Robert Buckland QC MP, last week (30 September – 2 October) joined the Attorneys General of 11 of the UK’s Overseas Territories at the Annual Conference of UK Overseas Territories Attorneys General in Anguilla.
They discussed a range of topics relating to the rule of law and administration of justice in the Territories including child safeguarding and transparency in the financial services sector.
The Government also reaffirmed its commitment to protect the marine environment across the Territories, with a future goal of establishing a Marine Protected Area in Pitcairn and Ascension Island.

The UK Government set out in its manifesto a pledge to support and protect the Overseas Territories, and actively participating in events like these is an important demonstration of that commitment.
This conference was also an important part of the wider process of engagement running up to Premiers and Chief Ministers from all the inhabited Territories coming to London in December for the annual Joint Ministerial Council.
