CNC provides mutual aid in Windsor
Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) Authorised Firearms Officers (AFOs) deployed to Windsor to provide mutual aid for the state visit of President Macron.

His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron for their state visit in Windsor this week.

A number of CNC AFOs were deployed on mutual aid to Windsor, working alongside colleagues from Thames Valley Police and forces/agencies from across the UK. A rehearsal event took place on Monday 7 July 2025, ahead of the formal state visit on Tuesday 8 July 2025.

Chief Constable Simon Chesterman was proud to see our officers working side by side with Home Office colleagues. He said: “Alongside our core role of protecting civil nuclear material and a number of other critical national infrastructure sites, the CNC also patrols the communities around the sites to keep the public safe.

“We also provide mutual aid to Home Office forces in times of peak demand. Mutual aid provides value for money, in terms of supplementing Home Office forces. It also gives us the opportunity to demonstrate our professionalism, to be visible, and to build our credibility nationally as a professional armed police force.”

The CNC is proud to have played a role in ensuring a safe and secure event for the Royal Family, their guests, and the public.
