Commercial and corporate information released online
The release of ownership records of freehold and leasehold property in England and Wales.

Land Registry has today released over 3.2 million ownership records of freehold and leasehold land and property in England and Wales, after being voted one of our most sought after datasets on Data.gov.

Commercial & Corporate Ownership Data (C&COD) offers online access to a dataset of all ownership categories, except private Individuals, overseas companies, charities and trustees. C&COD is a chargeable service under our licence.

Andrew Trigg, Head of Data Programme said,

with more than three million titles available, we believe this dataset will greatly benefit our customers, opening up an array of opportunities for internal data enhancements and new commercial services. This dataset has been requested by customers and developed after months of collaboration.

Information available

  • land description or property address with administrative area
  • name and address of the legal (commercial and corporate) owner(s)
  • date the owner was registered at Land Registry
  • ownership category
  • title numbers
  • tenure (freehold/leasehold)

Lynne Nicholson, Senior Product Manager said,

To ensure our customers have an opportunity to make an informed decision about the data, we’ve introduced a new initiative that allows them to review and test a subset of the data free of charge before purchase. The data can only be used internally for six weeks, but we believe this will provide added assurance and help our customers understand how it can best be used.

C&COD costs include data supply charges and flexible pricing options for organisations of all sizes, with three different supply packages and quarterly usage royalties for commercial reuse.

The data is supplied in CSV format, for easy integration with other datasets, if required.
