Acute and Non-Acute Delayed Transfers of Care

Information on availability of crtical care beds, cancelled operations and delayed transfer of care data has been published for December 2011.

The main findings were:

  • there were 3,696 adult critical care beds available and 2,961 occupied giving an occupancy rate of 80.1%
  • the number of urgent operations cancelled was 389 compared to 419 in the previous month
  • there were 112,999 patients delayed days during the month, of which 62,689 were acute
