The Department of Health has today published the Cold Weather Plan for England 2012 (CWP).

The Department of Health has today published the Cold Weather Plan for England 2012 (CWP).

It is part of a wider suite of measures that the Department of Health, NHS, Health Protection Agency and the Met Office are taking to protect individuals and communities from the effects of severe winter weather.

Also published alongside the CWP is:

  • ‘Supporting the Case’ a companion document giving further information on a range of topics related to the CWP, including an evaluation of the first year of the CWP and further information about the Cold Weather Alerts and messages to the public
  •  a series of ‘action cards’ based on the Plan for easy use by organisations, staff and the public.

NHS and local authority chief executives will wish to consider preparatory actions to support their efforts in responding to severe cold weather this winter.
