Earlier this year the Department of Health announced the start of a phased project to transfer commissioning responsibility for health services in secure children's homes and secure training centres in England to the NHS.

This is a cross government initiative, which includes the Department for Education, the Youth Justice Board and the Ministry of Justice working with the sector.
