The draft regulations duty of co-operation would have placed certain duties on employers, contractors and other designated bodies relating to health care workers.  The duties would have involved the sharing and providing of information relating to the conduct or performance of a worker if there is a potential risk to patient safety.

The Government has decided not to proceed with developing the regulations because respondents were unconvinced of the need for further legislation in this area. Read a summary of the responses received.

The original consultation  to seek views on draft regulations on “duty of co-operation” took place between 5 March and 9 July 2010.
