Plans for the future procurement of telephone advice services were published on 20 August 2015 for clients detained in police custody for:
- summary criminal offences (non-imprisonable)
- immigration offences (non-criminal)
This work sits under the:
- Crime Defence Direct (CDD) contract
- Police Station Immigration Telephone Advice Service (PSITAS) contract
These contracts come to an end on 31 May 2016 and we need to procure new services starting on 1 June 2016.
What is happening now?
A tender intentions document setting out the Legal Aid Agency’s (LAA) plans is now available on GOV.UK – see link below.
This invites questions or views on the tender intentions document. A contact address is provided below for feedback by 27 August 2015.
The intention is to offer applicant organisations the opportunity to bid for CDD and PSITAS contracts starting on 1 June 2016
What options are available?
Applicant organisations will have the opportunity to bid to deliver:
- PSITAS only services
- CDD services only
- CDD and PSITAS under one consolidated Police Station Telephone Advice contract
LAA plans to use a ‘lot’ based approach. Successful bids will be the ones offering the most economically advantageous outcome. This will be based on criteria set out in the procurement documentation.
