E-seminar: A review of allergen analytical testing methodologies
An e-seminar produced as part of the Joint Knowledge Transfer Framework for Food Standards and Food Safety Analysis

UK food labelling regulations require that if any of the 14 priority allergens are present in a food product, this must be stated. As allergies are an important food safety issue, it is essential to have validated methods in place to both detect and quantify the presence of allergens in food products.

This e-seminar summarises the content of FSA report FS900246, a report by Fera Science Ltd., which provides a review of allergen analytical testing methodologies. It also covers information, guidance and best practice on how and where to apply the approaches described, in order to detect priority allergens in foods.

This e-seminar was produced by the Joint Knowledge Transfer Framework for Food Standards and Food Safety Analysis, funded by the Food Standards Agency, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Food Standards Scotland and the Department for Science Innovation and Technology via the Government Chemist.
