Civil/crime news: 'disregarded payments' list expanded
Changes to lists of payments to be disregarded in civil and criminal legal aid financial assessments.

The list of payments to be disregarded when making financial assessments is being expanded.

The updated list affects the calculation of gross and disposable income for both civil and criminal legal aid financial determinations from 28 July 2016.

Amended regulations

These are the new payments which have been added to the list of disregarded income under the Civil and Criminal Legal Aid (Financial Eligibility and Contributions) (Amendment) Regulations 2016:

  • budget advances
  • payments on account of benefit
  • transfer advances of Universal Credit
  • Welsh Independent Living Grant
