Investigating Virtual Reality for the College of Policing
A case study of our recent work for the College of Policing on the use of virtual reality (VR) headsets in police training.

In February 2022 we were commissioned by the College of Policing to gather evidence and insights on the use of virtual reality (VR) headsets in police training.

To do this, we reviewed relevant literature and consulted 19 experts, including academics and practitioners from the UK and overseas. Our report:

  • Reviewed where VR has been trialled by police forces in the UK and internationally
  • Outlined the current state of evidence and considerations for using VR in police training
  • Suggested next steps for the sector on VR applications for training

A member of the client team said:

The service provided by OIT was fantastic. The team were knowledgeable, were quick to grasp the requirements and needed little direction. The final product is clear, succinct and will be of great value going forwards.
