Keighley’s historic drill hall ready to welcome back cadets
Keighley’s historic drill hall is ready to welcome back cadets following a £350,000 renovation project by the RFCA, including £100,000 support funding from the Air Training Corps (ATC).

The scheme originally entailed repairs to the roof and roof lights and was primarily designed to ensure the property was weatherproof, however additional structural problems involving the hall’s purlins came to light which meant works had to be extended.

RFCA surveyor Ian Thompson said:

It’s been a major project for the region and we are delighted that this much-loved building is now ready for the cadets’ return.

Keighley drill hall holds a special place in the heart of the local community and it is good to see it restored to a state that it can be enjoyed by young people of the town once again.

The RFCA is responsible for the upkeep of over 600 buildings that are home to cadets and Reserve Forces across Yorkshire and the Humber.

More information about work the RFCA does on estates can be found on the RFCA website.
