Civil news: exceptional funding guidance in inquest cases
Revised guidance takes into account Court of Appeal decision in the case of Letts v The Lord Chancellor.

The Lord Chancellor has published revised guidance on civil legal aid funding in inquest cases.

The guidance was published on 20 August 2015 and is available on the exceptional funding pages on GOV.UK – see below.

It takes into account the conclusions of the Court of Appeal in the case of Letts v The Lord Chancellor.

Caseworkers

The guidance sets out some of the factors that caseworkers will need to take into account when looking at applications for exceptional funding.

So it should be useful to legal aid providers and potential claimants who are considering applying for exceptional funding.

It is issued by the Lord Chancellor under section 4 (3) of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012.
