Commenting on the appointment, HS2 Ltd Chairman David Higgins said:

Notes:
- Roy Hill will join HS2 on 1st November. Simon Kirby will continue in post until the end of the year
- Recruitment for the permanent role is underway. We hope to have selected the candidate around the turn of the year and that the permanent CEO will be in place by summer 2017.
- Roy Hill was previously seconded to HS2 Ltd in 2012 where he held the position of Phase One Development Director for approximately two years
