Student Finance Applications Open 23 March 2026
Full-time undergraduate applications for Student Finance England (SFE) and Student Finance Wales (SFW) will open on Monday 23 March 2026 for courses starting in September 2026.

SFE students can join our mailing list to receive an email when applications open. The mailing list is for courses starting between 31 August and 31 December 2026.

Why applying early matters
Applying before the deadline helps ensure funding is in place for the start of term.
Applications can take six to eight weeks to process, and students can apply even if they haven’t confirmed their university place yet. They can update their course details later if plans change.
Courses starting from January 2027
SFE students starting a course from 1 January 2027 onwards will apply for funding through the Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE). More information about LLE is available on the GOV.UK guidance page.
