Pet nutraceutical product seized
Tubs of Immune+ seized at East Midlands Airport.

A package containing a nutraceutical formulated for pets was identified by a courier company based at a depot in the East Midlands.

The package arrived from Singapore containing products destined for a residential address in Penrith.

The parcel was detained and subsequently seized by an inspector from the Veterinary Medicines Directorate.

The following product was seized:

  • 5 tubs of Immune+ each containing 60 capsules.

A nutraceutical product is a food or naturally occurring food supplement marketed as having a beneficial effect on health and requires a Marketing Authorisation if medicinal claims are made.

This product was seized as it indicates medicinal claims for atopic skin conditions and therefore meets the criteria for classification as a medicine. This product would therefore  require an authorisation before being imported, possessed, supplied or administered within the UK.

The product was seized under Regulation 25 (Importation of unauthorised veterinary medicinal products) of the Veterinary Medicines Regulations 2013.
