This exciting and fast-paced job is based in the VMD’s Residues Team and working closely with our International Team, to help ensure food imported to the UK is safe for consumers. You will be responsible for assessing whether the systems that trading partners have in place are sufficient to ensure that banned substances, authorised medicines and contaminants are not present in food-producing animals, or their products, at levels that exceed Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs).

Role
The primary purpose of this role is to coordinate and conduct audits and assessments of the veterinary residues programmes of both existing and prospective UK trading partners, contributing to the wider Defra-led decision-making process. You will also support other countries to build their own residues surveillance and laboratory testing capacity by provision of technical advice and training.
