David Cameron spoke with Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy of Spain this morning ahead of the European Council next week.

A Downing Street spokesperson said:

The Prime Minister called the Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy this morning to discuss the UK’s EU renegotiation. They agreed that good progress had been made and that we should continue to work closely together for an agreement at next week’s European Council.
