Ofqual to review teaching time of ECDL qualification
Regulations established in 2015 allow a qualification's teaching time to be reviewed.

Last year Ofqual set requirements that awarding organisations must assign a number of Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for each of their qualifications. Our requirements came into force for a number of qualifications, including the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) qualification, on 30 June 2016. We keep all of the qualifications that we regulate under review and this now includes the need to ensure that assigned GLH remains appropriate.

Information about the teaching time assigned to this qualification has been gathered by Ofsted as part of its general inspection activity since September 2016. We will be able to review this information and we intend to report on it in the new year.

Notes to editors:

We have published criteria which awarding organisations must apply when deciding GLH, and awarding organisations must keep their GLH under review.
